I arrived at Tony’s Pizza and Subs in Clemson, South Carolina on a grey and rainy Wednesday evening. On the far-left of a large building with Gold’s Gym as the anchor was Tony’s; a small and bright pizza shop. I arrived about an hour prior to trivia, and made my way inside. It was relatively busy already with, as I found out later, many customers who were staying for trivia.
I settled into a seat at the bar and asked if the owner, Johnny Murphy, was there. I was greeted shortly by both Johnny, and his wife Susan. We spoke of Catch The Mania trivia, and of how they switched from another pub quiz company and were very happy with the switch. We spoke of their trivia customers, that were a range of Clemson University students to locals who just loved to play weekly. We spoke of the huge, positive effect it has had on their Wednesday nights.
The seats filled. The pizza cooked and the beer flowed. I hope I can make it back to Tony’s in South Carolina again.
